About Us

Mission Statement

The Georgia Association of Medical Acupuncturists (GAMA) is an organization established to promote fellowship among acupuncturists, physicians and other healthcare practitioners interested in integrative medicine and to support the continuing education of all acupuncturists and practitioners of Oriental medical arts through a deeper study of its energetic principles and practices.

Our organization includes the membership of both medical physicians who practice acupuncture and licensed acupuncturists. We welcome the participation of community members and other parties interested in exchanging ideas and sharing experiences, thereby developing a more complete and effective healthcare system.  It is our fervent belief that this fosters both a unity among different practitioners and the communities they serve and a deeper understanding of acupuncture’s potential and use, enabling us to be more effective practitioners.

Philosophy

We believe an effective healthcare system is most reliant on the unity of its practitioners and their developed ability to address and treat a broad range of patient problems in the safest and most integrated and complete fashion. Such health delivery often requires practitioners to be able to apply a broader range of skills to address the unique problems patients have. Acupuncture and other Oriental medical practices (herbalism, tuina and qigong), by their energetic nature, particularly possess the ability to address medical problems in this broader way. Thus must we see to their greater development, understanding and application.

The education, cultivation and unification of the members of our healthcare community to this common purpose is, therefore, our utmost goal.

Our  greatest resource is ourselves. Each person brings his or her uniqueness to all that they do; this is as true in our personal and family lives as in our healthcare practices. We believe this uniqueness is the foundation to greater creativity and to proper, effective practice and that it must be cultivated and supported in every way possible.

In bringing us together in community to fellowship, study and exchange experiences can GAMA serve its highest purpose: our personal and professional cultivation and the improvement in the way we serve our communities.
